Recently picked up the Breakin’ soundtrack on vinyl, and the thrill of this find inspired some new prints tonight. They’re still in progress - I printed some on canvas and some on paper, and I’m going to put a key on them later this week. RAD!!

Hey, printmakers! Any of you attending SGC in Milwaukee? I will be in the 1st open portfolio session on Thursday (6:00 p.m.). Please come say hi & exchange business cards and/or prints with me! I will have a hand-full of the pictured litho (“It Didn’t Work” by N.Rice, 2012) to trade. I’d love to meet some fellow Tumblr artists. :)

New work in progress for SGC!
I made a couple collages that combined images from porn magazines, promotional travel magazines, and Psychology Today. Now I’m working on drawings to lay over them. My intentions are to make large digital prints of the collages themselves, then silkscreen the drawings over the top of them. It turns out that I really like how the drawing looks on its own, though, so I may print a couple of those independently first.
* All images created by N. Rice (2013).
Who’s going to SGC this year? I can’t wait!

“It’s Time To Get Ill!” (2011) by N. Rice
Carved Skateboard Deck & Hand-made Print
I had these pieces in a skate-themed art show last Thursday night at SMLTWN Skate Shop in DeKalb. I carved a blank deck then hand-pulled a print off it onto Japanese paper.
It’s called “It’s Time To Get Ill!” and I made it in 2011 for my brother, Terry, who used to skate to the Beastie Boys back in the day.
Here’s the original Licensed To Ill cover art it was based on:
